Muscle puzzles.

I started climbing at Brooklyn Boulders climbing gym in the west loop of Chicago 4-5 times a week in March 2019. Absolutely loving the community and the measurable improvements I’ve made since starting! I’m setting a goal of climbing a 5.12a/b by February of 2020. (edit: Got my first 5.12a in December 2019!)

I also began to volunteer for the Adaptive Climbing Group on Wednesdays. Adaptive Climbing Group is a community for people with certain disabilities or limitations to have the opportunity to participate in the sport of climbing. It’s an amazing group of driven climbers and volunteers with a wealth of knowledge to tap into.

Over the Labor Day of 2019 I booked a climbing guide in Estes Park CO! It was exciting, nerve-racking, scary, and I totally loved it! We spent a day sport climbing around Estes, and the next day climbed Pear Buttress, a 5.9 multi pitch trad route in the Lumpy Ridge area. Stoked!!! (You can read about that trip here)

Later I organized a trip to Red River Gorge in Kentucky with a group of friends from BKB. You can read all about that trip HERE. A great weekend of climbing & learning with friends. A few of us went back down after Christmas, which you can read about HERE.

A few friends and I also competed in our first bouldering competition in the Fall of 2019, which was a TON of fun. I ended up doing a tad too good. I got just enough points to be placed in the advanced group, which put me at last place. If I had done just a tiny bit worse I would have gotten 1st in the intermediate group!

In early December of 2019 a friend, Adam, and I climbed the height of El Cap (3,000 feet) in a single day. Over the course of 8 hours and 8 minutes, we climbed 57 routes (almost all 5.10+ and 5.11-). Very fun challenge, and was very very sore the next day!

My goal was to be able to climb a 5.12- cleanly by the end of the year, and I barely made it! Got up two 5.12s clean in the last two weeks of December 2019, which felt awesome. Really stoked on that. Now to bring my leading up from 11+ to 12-…. That’s my early 2020 climbing goal.

2020 climbing

Been climbing outdoors all around the US in the summer of 2020 doing things I never though I’d have the opportunity to do or learn!

June - Single pitch sport climbing all over Utah
July - Single pitch trad climbing in Moab + Leading sport multi’s around Utah
August - Multi pitch trad routes in Yosemite, Royal Arches etc.
Sept - Harder trad & sport multis, 18 pitch sport stuff in North Cascades, etc.
October - Bouldering a lot, Harder trad single pitch stuff, canyoneering
November - Chill Yosemite climbs, cathedral peak, etc.

Wow!!

2021 Climbing

Got to climb in some new areas this year!

First climbs in Sedona AZ, revisiting a lot of climbs around the Moab area, hopefully some climbs in the Tetons, and got to check out a few new routes up in Index Washington. Lots of comfy trad climbs, nice multipitches, just having fun out here!
